Rashmi Ghosh’s recent suite of artworks featuring mixed media paintings, drawings and photographs, accompanied by detailed textual narratives are a presentation of her ongoing research and documentation project on stepwells of India. Stepwells as a theme forms a vast subject, encompassing multiple facets about their origin, location, functionality, along with unique features related to architecture, structural design, cultural influences and ornamental traits, evident in each of them.
