Description

Bandana Kumari, Bhopal

Bandana Kumari earned her painting degree from The College of Arts and Crafts, Patna University. She kickstarted her art journey with prestigious accolades such as The Mahua Art Gallery & HK Kejriwal Foundation Award, the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Award, and the Lalit Kala Academy Lucknow Award, recognizing her talent and propelling her forward into the world of art. She is currently practicing from Bhopal.

In her paintings, the female form is adorned with various symbols of nature such as flowers, grapes, fish, moons, stars, foxes, and lionesses, each representing facets of womanhood. Often, her pieces depict figures with human bodies and animal heads. In our society, while some revere goddesses, others perceive women as weak and vulnerable. Yet, they overlook the strength and resolve women possess, akin to the revered goddesses. Thus, many of her artworks feature lioness-headed figures, symbolizing the power and resilience of women, capable of embodying the might of goddesses when circumstances demand.
